Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith, an Aliquippa native, and professional wrestling champion and New Brighton native “The Franchise” Shane Douglas are two of a group of 10 athletic greats who will be celebrated with enshrinement into the Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame on June 13 at The Club at Shadow Lakes in Aliquippa.

In addition to Smith and Douglas, the Class of 2026 features Jim Cantamessa (basketball, Blackhawk), Clayton Hamilton (baseball, Blackhawk), Christa Harmotto Dietzen (volleyball, Hopewell), Joe Klimchak (sports media, Center), Tim Moore (coaching, Freedom), Anthony Piroli (strength coach, Aliquippa), Mark Ridgley (coaching, New Brighton) and Mike Sirianni (coaching, Hopewell).

The group will be honored along with local student-athletes, championship coaches and others at the banquet ceremony.

Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame President L.J Zigerell said that this group of inductees has brought recognition to Beaver County through their success at the local, state, national and international levels with accomplishments in a wide range of sports and roles.

The Class of 2026

Jim Cantamessa

Cantamessa helped Blackhawk to state triple-A basketball titles in 1995 and 1996, scoring 30 points in the 1996 title game. He later excelled on the court at Siena College. From 2000-08, he played professional basketball in Europe with an appearance in the FIBA EuroCup All-Star Game in 2008. Since 2010, Cantamessa has coached men’s basketball, first at Greensboro College and currently at Eckerd College.

Shane Douglas

Born Troy Martin, he wrestled under the ring name “The Franchise” Shane Douglas. Over his career, Martin won some of the most prestigious titles in pro wrestling, including the world tag team titles with World Championship Wrestling and solo titles such as the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, the UWF Television Title, the WWF (now WWE) Intercontinental Title and the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Martin was inducted into wrestling’s Hardcore Hall of Fame in 2014.

Clayton Hamilton

Clayton Hamilton was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2004 and pitched for minor league teams affiliated with the Padres, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Texas Rangers. Clayton later signed with the Yokohama BayStars of the Nippon Professional Baseball League and pitched for the BayStars across two seasons before finishing his baseball career in the Puerto Rico Winter League in 2012-13.

Christa Harmotto Dietzen

At Hopewell, Harmotto Dietzen earned Gatorade Pennsylvania Girls Volleyball Player of the Year in 2004. As a junior and senior at Penn State, she won first-team All-America honors, helping her team to the 2007 and 2008 NCAA titles. Harmotto Dietzen represented the United States at international competitions. She won silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics and captured gold at the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.

Joe Klimchak

Klimchak, a Center graduate, has been the Pittsburgh Pirates’ in-game host since 2005, serving as emcee for pregame ceremonies and inning breaks at every home game. He also hosts WPXI-TV’s Take 5 show and has hosted numerous special events such as Major League Baseball’s Little League Classic, Arnold Palmer’s 80th birthday celebration at PNC Park and Downtown Pittsburgh’s Light Up Night.

Tim Moore

Moore, a Freedom graduate, has excelled as a women’s basketball coach, leading Penn State Beaver to PSUAC conference championships eight times (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025) and USCAA Division II National Championships in 2015 and 2020. He was named USCAA women’s basketball Division II National Coach of the Year in 2016, 2020 and 2024.

Anthony Piroli

Piroli served as a strength and conditioning coach at IUP, Pitt, Ohio State and Mississippi State, and in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals. Since 2019, he has served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers including the Bucs’ Super Bowl championship season.

Mark Ridgley

Ridgley served as an assistant coach for the Pitt football team for six years before coaching defensive backs and defensive line at Central Michigan. From 2012-20, he coached in a variety of roles in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers. Internationally, Ridgley served as special teams coordinator/defensive line coach for the 2024 Madrid Bravos. In 2025, he served as head coach of the Hungarian-based Enthroners in the European League of Football.

Mike Sirianni

Sirianni stood out as a wide receiver and triple jumper at Mount Union College. In 2003, he took over as Washington & Jefferson’s head football coach. Sirianni’s teams have compiled an .805 win percentage while outright winning or sharing the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title 10 times. He was named PAC Coach of the Year seven times. In 2024, Sirianni was inducted into the Washington-Greene County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

Terry Smith

In 1986, the Aliquippa native quarterbacked the Gateway football team to a 13-0 record and the WPIAL Class 4A championship. He received region all-star honors before playing wide receiver at Penn State. Smith returned to his alma mater, coaching the Gators from 2002-12 and compiling a 101-30 record and winning seven conference titles. Since 2014, he has coached Penn State football, having been promoted to assistant head coach in 2016, associate head coach in 2021, and interim head coach this past fall.
