Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon will miss a third consecutive game, but running back Jaylen Warren was declared ready to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Harmon returned to practice — albeit on a limited basis — this week but was not cleared to play after entering the weekend with a questionable designation on the status report.
The team’s leading rusher, Warren was not listed until Monday morning when the team announced him as questionable because of illness. Warren, though, was spotted entering the stadium and on the field taking part in warmups far in advance of the 8:15 p.m. scheduled kickoff at Acrisure Stadium.
Harmon, the Steelers’ rookie first-round pick, will miss a fifth game this season because of knee ailments. He suffered his most recent injury during a Nov. 23 loss at the Chicago Bears. Without him, the Steelers have allowed more than 200 rushing yards in each of their previous two outings.
Fellow rookie Yahya Black is expected to take over Harmon’s spot as the Steelers’ No. 3 defensive tackle.
No Wilson again
Receiver Roman Wilson was a healthy inactive for the second consecutive game. The Steelers added a pair of veterans to their WR corps over the past two weeks — Adam Thielen via waivers and Marquez Valdes-Scantling signed to the active roster from the practice squad earlier Monday. Each made his Steelers debut during the Dec. 7 win at the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers had announced late last week that offensive lineman Andrus Peat (concussion) and outside linebacker T.J. Watt (lung) would miss Monday’s game.
After making his Steelers debut in Baltimore, defensive tackle Brodric Martin-Rhodes was again inactive against Miami. Rookie Will Howard served as the “emergency” No. 3 quarterback.
Dolphins inactives
Miami was without defensive back Elijah Campbell (ankle/knee), offensive lineman Larry Borom (illness), cornerback AJ Green III, receiver Tahj Washington and defensive tackle Matthew Butler.
Rookie Quinn Ewers was designated as the emergency quarterback.
Also Monday, the Dolphins signed linebacker Quinton Bell to the active roster off their practice squad while waiving linebacker Andre Carter II. Offensive lineman Kion Smith was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.
