A Mt. Pleasant Borough man was behind bars after police said he broke into a nursing facility Sunday evening and assaulted a staff member, according to court papers.
Borough police said Daniel. S. Sebulsky, 41, urinated and defecated in Harmon House Health & Rehab Center before fleeing to Independence Health Frick Hospital, where police took him into custody.
Authorities were called to the South Church Street facility about 6:30 p.m. after a man had reportedly thrown a rock through the ambulance bay door and entered the building, according to court papers. A nurse told police the man left the building and, after being confronted by three men outside, broke in again, overpowering staff members trying to hold the doors closed, according to court papers.
He is accused of pushing a nurse out of the way and running down a hall. The nurse reported finding feces on the floor outside a bathroom down that hall and urine on the walls inside, according to court papers.
When they caught up with him at the hospital emergency room, Sebulsky told police he went inside Harmon House because he was being chased by three men and wanted help, according to court papers.
He was charged with criminal trespass, institutional vandalism, simple assault and related offenses. District Judge Chuck Moore set bail at $100,000 during Sebulsky’s arraignment Monday.
A Dec. 31 preliminary hearing is set. Sebulsky did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
At the time of his arrest, Sebulsky was out on bail in a Dec. 7 case in which he is accused of fleeing from Mt. Pleasant Borough police twice. An officer reported seeing a black Nissan speeding on Main Street at 3:30 a.m. and pursued it, according to court papers. Sebulsky eventually stopped close to his home on Frick Avenue and then took off again after police said he supplied his name and date of birth. It appeared he was under the influence of alcohol during the traffic stop, police said.
Charges of fleeing from police and several summary citations, including driving on a suspended license, were filed in that case. Moore set bail at $10,000 during an arraignment Dec. 9 and Sebulsky posted it two days later, according to court records. A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for Feb. 4.
