Aspinwall’s annual Light Up the Wall celebration took place Dec. 6.

Commercial and Brilliant avenues were packed with people and activities.

There were ice sculptures, face painting, cookie decorating, carolers, food trucks, balloon artists, a magic show, flame eaters from Sirkus Days and more.

Santa and his helpers were inside council chambers, taking photos with families.

Resident Meredith Troyan has volunteered as an elf for the past nine years.

“Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and seeing the joy that Santa brings to the children makes my heart feel good,” Troyan said.

“Their joy is the true meaning of Christmas. I think it went very well, even though it was very cold. We still got quite a few people to visit Santa.”

The event was made possible in partnership with the borough and Aspinwall Chamber of Commerce.

“It was beautiful even though it was cold,” said Giuseppe Francioni, chamber executive director.

“We had a very nice crowd, good fireworks. All the artists and merchants were very cooperative.”

Mayor Joe Noro, Deputy Police Chief Michael Vith, Assistant Borough Manager Dawn Eastly and Borough Manager Melissa O’Malley gave out free popcorn and candy.

The borough helps with logistics and donates to the fireworks display. About 1,000 people participated in the event.

“This year’s Light Up the Wall really showed how strong our community connections are,” O’Malley said.

“Local organizations, volunteers and our borough staff all pitched in to bring the display together — stringing lights, adding decorations and making sure every detail captured the charm that makes Aspinwall so special. The night was a great reminder of the pride our residents take in keeping the borough welcoming and festive throughout the holiday season.”
