Tuesday’s “On Sports” checks in on the Steelers’ upcoming AFC North opponents who are dealing with fallout from their most recent losses.
Also, the Penguins are back in Canada, and James Franklin apparently is a home run hire at Virginia Tech.
So, let’s get to the latest “On Sports,” pinch hitting for “First Call.”
Harbaugh on hot seat?
Baltimore Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh says he’s not feeling the heat when it comes to his future with the franchise. The Ravens (7-8) lost 28-24 to the New England Patriots on Sunday night and are in danger of being eliminated from playoff contention.
They play in Green Bay (9-5-1) on Saturday night and conclude the regular season in Pittsburgh (9-6) in Week 18 and need to win out and have the Steelers lose out to win the division.
“I try to do the job, not try to keep the job,” said Harbaugh, according to ESPN. “My focus has been for the last 18 years here and the last 41 years in coaching is to try to do the best job I can today and fight as hard as I can so the guys have the best chance to be successful today. And anything after today, I’m not thinking about because it’s not given for us to think about.”
Harbaugh has taken some heat from fans and media members for not giving Derrick Henry any carries late in the game Sunday, as the Ravens blew a fourth-quarter lead.
John Harbaugh was pressed more today about why Derrick Henry wasn’t in the game down the stretch:
“Looking back at it right now, I would have grabbed it, and I would have said, ‘No, put Derrick in the game.’ But that's not really the way it works in real time.”#RavensFlockpic.twitter.com/q0Qn2T4WjK

Derrick Henry scored a rushing touchdown with 12:50 left in the fourth quarter. The Ravens led 24-13.

On top of everything else, quarterback Lamar Jackson left Sunday’s game with a back contusion and is considered day-to-day.
According to the New York Times playoff simulator, the Ravens have just a 7% chance of reaching the playoffs. The Steelers’ chances are at 94% to win the AFC North.
Coming up next
The Steelers will make their final road trip of the regular season when they take the short jaunt to Cleveland to face the Browns at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Cleveland just lost 23-20 to the Buffalo Bills and dropped to 3-12. The Browns also lost their leading rusher for the season. Rookie running back Quinshon Judkins dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula and will need surgery, according to coach Kevin Stefanski.

Judkins leads the Browns with 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Matinee north of the border
The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading north of the border again for a Tuesday afternoon matinee. They will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 4 p.m. puck drop.
The Penguins lost two games in Canada last week, falling 4-0 to both Ottawa and Montreal. They rebounded to defeat the Canadiens at home Sunday night, 4-3 in a shootout, to improve to 15-11-9 with 39 points. That’s good for seventh in the eight-team Metro division.

Toronto has had its share of struggles of late, dropping three straight games to fall to 15-15-5 with 35 points, which is last in the Atlantic division. On Monday, assistant coach Marc Savard was relieved of his duties.
The Maple Leafs allow 3.34 goals per game, seventh worst in the NHL. By contrast, the Penguins allow 3.09.
Toronto’s star forward William Nylander hasn’t scored in 11 games.
“I don’t know if I’ve felt like this before,” Nylander told the Athletic. “Or had a stretch like this, I’m not sure. I don’t feel like I’ve had that in the NHL, at least.”
Nylander has 11 goals and 25 assists this season.
Dishing out grades
ESPN graded all of the college football head coaching hires so far this season. A familiar name was near the top of the list.
Just below LSU’s A-plus No. 1 hire of Lane Kiffin, No. 2 James Franklin landed on his feet after being fired by Penn State. ESPN gave his hire at Virginia Tech an “A” grade, citing his resume of five top-10 finishes in a nine-year span with the Nittany Lions.
“No matter how the run at PSU ended, for Tech to land someone with that type of résumé was an absolute coup,” wrote ESPN’s Bill Connelly.
Penn State’s hiring of Iowa State’s Matt Campbell landed at No. 7 on the list, also with an “A” grade.
Former West Virginia coach Neal Brown came in at No. 20 (“B” grade) after he was hired at North Texas.
