A coffee shop with a drive-through only concept appears to be moving forward in Harrison.
7 Brew, a popular caffeine stop with nearly 600 locations across the country, is seeking to open along Freeport Road.
The township’s planning commission approved a move by parent company, WhoBrew LLC, to consolidate three parcels into one. The lots sit between 1421 and 1425 Freeport Road.
“We are awaiting 7 Brew to prepare the plan for signatures for the township, and then they will file those with Allegheny County,” township Manager Amy Rockwell said.
The land development application was approved with modifications. Updated plans are expected to be presented at the Jan. 5 planning meeting.
Other paperwork needs to be submitted to state agencies and then the company can apply for a building permit, Rockwell said.
Founded in Arkansas, 7 Brew is primarily a drive-through shop. There are a few walk-up stands, but the stores are without indoor lobbies or seating and instead focus on quick vehicle service.
The newest location opened in Cranberry, with others closest to the Alle-Kiski Valley in Greensburg, Indiana, Pa., and Latrobe.
7 Brew officials did not respond to requests for comment.
In Harrison, the shop would sit beside Sheetz. A small brick commercial building and a house would be razed to make way.
The lots are zoned for business.
7 Brew is known for brewing more than 20,000 unique beverages, including coffee and energy drinks.
