Next year, South Buffalo residents can expect their tax bills to remain the same.

The township passed its 2026 budget without a tax hike for the 16th consecutive year earlier this month.

South Buffalo’s property tax rate will remain at 5.7 mills.

That means for a home at the township’s median assessed value of roughly $100,000, the tax bill will continue to be $570.

The budget’s general fund is balanced at about $1.25 million, down about 5% from this year’s $1.32 million general fund.

Expenditures for items like building improvements, police equipment and highway capital purchases fell significantly.

Major expenses in the budget’s general fund include wages for South Buffalo police at 18% of the budget, wages for the township’s road maintenance crews at 17% and health insurance coverage for township employees at 10%.

South Buffalo Supervisors Chairman Joe Charlton said he was “absolutely happy” with next year’s budget.

It included a 6% raise for salaried township employees, he said.

The township’s main struggle, he said, has been dealing with rising inflationary costs for things like stone and oil, but supervisors were still able to get by without a tax hike.
