A portion of Liberty Avenue in the Strip District will close starting Monday as Pittsburgh Water replaces a water valve under the road.
Three of four lanes of the street will be closed from 2525 to 2625 Liberty Ave., including both outbound lanes and one inbound lane.
A detour will route drivers from Liberty Avenue to 25th Street, then to Smallman Street to 30th Street and back to Liberty Avenue, according to city officials.
The around-the-clock closures are scheduled to begin Monday evening and last about seven days, Pittsburgh Water said in a news release. Crews will be working on weekends and weekdays.
Pittsburgh Water’s contractors will replace a broken 36-inch water valve. The authority said the valve has to be replaced to ensure reliable water service.
Crews will install temporary waterstops, which will ensure water service is maintained during repairs.
Traffic flaggers will be located along the stretch, including at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 25th Street.
