Looks like George Pickens is having a Pro Bowl season in Dallas. What kind of genius brings in a Hall of Fame quarterback and at the same time trades away the most talented receiver on the team?

We all understand Pickens was a problem child and disruptive influence. But there is no question Pickens’ physical talent was far above any other receiver the Steelers have. The kind of talent a person is either born with, or not. It cannot be “coached” from anyone not blessed with it at birth. So what exactly is a head coach’s job, if not to reign in a petulant child like Pickens and force him to grow up?

I have never understood the mindless cheering section that touts Mike Tomlin as a great coach. He has always tolerated immature and irresponsible conduct, and thereby passively promotes it. It shows. He was handed a Super Bowl contender and relentlessly ran it into the ground to a perennial .500 ball club. That’s not an opinion … it’s hard fact writ large in W’s and L’s.

Occasional great plays only prove the problem is not the on-field talent. Past time to ditch Tomlin. Maybe time to ditch the management that defends him.
