Authorities confirmed Tuesday afternoon that a man killed Monday night on Interstate 376 near the Greenfield Bridge died by suicide.

Police partially shut down the westbound lanes of the Parkway East for two hours Monday because of the incident.

Neither Pittsburgh police nor Pennsylvania State Police provided details about what they believe happened.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Bruno Lagana, 20, of Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood.

Lagana was pronounced dead at the scene around 9:05 p.m. on Monday from blunt force injuries.

Pittsburgh police officers were dispatched to the scene Monday while Pennsylvania State Police assisted with traffic control.

The road reopened just after 11 p.m.

Westbound traffic was directed to exit at the Squirrel Hill/Homestead (Exit 74) interchange during the closure, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation..

TribLive generally does not report on apparent suicides unless they occur in a public place.
