Pittsburgh police are working to find out what led to a man being found beaten Friday evening.

Public Safety spokesperson Eliza Durham said officers were dispatched to the intersection of Jumonville Street and the Boulevard of the Allies shortly after 11 p.m. for a person suffering from facial injuries.

Officers found a man in critical condition with multiple lacerations to the face, consistent with being pistol-whipped.

Durham said the man was reportedly dropped off at the location by a private vehicle that fled the area.

Pittsburgh EMS transported the male to a local hospital and his condition was later downgraded to stable.

Durham said detectives are working to determine where the incident occurred. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-3700.
