With two weeks of WPIAL boys wrestling section duals remaining, sole possession of first place and a possible section crown is up for grabs in three Class 3A sections Wednesday.

• In Section 4-3A, North Allegheny (8-1) visits Seneca Valley (7-2) at 7 p.m. The Tigers and Raiders are both 2-0 in section matches. North Allegheny has won the last three section matches against Seneca Valley, including last year, 64-6.

• In Section 5-3A, Kiski Area (13-1) hosts Armstrong (8-1) at 7 p.m. The Cavaliers and River Hawks have won both of their section duels. A year ago, Kiski Area won at Armstrong, 46-26.

• In the four-team Section 6-3A, neighbors collide when North Hills (6-2) welcomes Shaler (2-0) at 7 p.m. With only three section matches slated, the Indians and Titans both look to improve to 2-0 in the section. North Hills has won three straight in the series, including a victory at Shaler last January, 33-25.

3 for 1 on 2A mats

Much like in Class 3A boys wrestling, sole possession of first place and a possible section crown is up for grabs in three Class 2A sections as well Wednesday.

• In Section 3-2A, Jefferson-Morgan (9-0) travels to Beth-Center (7-3) at 7 p.m. The Rockets and Bulldogs are each 2-0 in section matches. The two have split their last two matches with B-C winning in 2024 and J-M picking up the victory last year, 55-15.

• In Section 6-2A, Avonworth (2-5) is home to Keystone Oaks (6-3) at 7 p.m. Both the Antelopes and Golden Eagles are 1-0 with two section matches remaining. Avonworth has won the last two meetings against Keystone Oaks, including a win at KO last January, 42-30.

• In Section 8-2A, it’s a battle of the unbeaten when Ligonier Valley (4-0) visits Derry (8-0) at 7 p.m. The Rams and Trojans are 1-0 in the four-team section. Derry won big at Ligonier Valley 12 months ago, 42-15.

Midweek hoops

There are no WPIAL section basketball games slated for Wednesday with nine boys nonsection games and 10 girls out-of-section contests.

One of the better boys games has 2025 Class 4A district champion Belle Vernon hosting Gateway.

The Leopards are tied for first place with Elizabeth Forward in Section 3-4A. Belle Vernon is 9-6 this season with three straight wins.

The Gators are 7-5 overall after beating McKeesport on Tuesday. Gateway is alone in first place in Section 1-5A, one game ahead of Franklin Regional.

Another intriguing matchup on the girls side has Upper St. Clair visiting West Allegheny.

The reigning Class 6A champion Panthers are 6-7 this season under first-year coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, but they have won three straight games and are in third place in Section 2-6A.

The Indians are in second place in Section 3-5A, one game behind front-running South Fayette.

West A is 10-3 this season and has won five of its last six games.
