Fox Chapel-area communities reorganized their local borough and township governments Jan. 5.

Aspinwall

Scott Zimmerman was sworn in as mayor.

He then administered the oath of office to council members Jeff Harris, Andrew Corey-O’Conner, Patti McCaffrey and Lara Voytko.

Harris and Heth Turnquist were reappointed as council president and vice president, respectively.

Other council members are Louis Curcio and Mark Chimel.

Borough operations remained the same with Melissa O’Malley retained as borough manager, Martone Engineering as borough engineers and attorney Steve Korbel with Babst, Calland, Clements & Zomnir.

Ryan Santelli was retained as zoning officer, code enforcement and building inspector.

Blawnox

Deborah Laskey and Randall Stoddard were reappointed council president and vice president, respectively.

Laskey, Stoddard, Christine Carnevali and Matthew Stanczak were sworn in to four-year terms.

Councilman Mark Lombardi lost his bid for reelection. However, he earned enough write-in votes for a two-year seat and was sworn in.

Council also accepted the resignation of Councilwoman Elaine Palmer at its reorganization meeting.

Kelly Drum was appointed to fill Palmer’s seat at the subsequent voting session shortly after reorganization. The vacancy had not been publicly posted.

Borough Manager Cory Dennison said Drum was selected out of several residents who showed interest in serving on council last year.

Drum will serve out the remaining two years of Palmer’s term. She will have to run in the next municipal election to keep the seat. Katie Specht-Coban is also on council.

Other borough operations remain the same. O’Hara police continue to patrol Blawnox streets as part of a public safety agreement. Dennison was also named borough treasurer/secretary.

The law firm Dodaro, Dalfonso, Matta & Cambest was retained as borough solicitor. Senate Engineers was retained as borough engineer and Building Inspection Underwriters was retained as borough building inspector/zoning officer.

Fox Chapel

Jonathan Colton was sworn in as the new mayor and Councilmen Andrew Bennett, Bradley Harrison and Barry Schaitkin were sworn in to new four-year terms.

Colton, who stepped down from council to become mayor, swore in Wes Posvar as his replacement. Povar, a Republican, will serve the remaining two years of Colton’s unexpired term.

He has been the Parks Commission chairman for seven years and served on the borough planning commission the last 10 years. Posvar plans to remain in those roles while on council.

Bennett and Harrison Lauer were reappointed council president and vice president, respectively.

Other council members are Frederick Leech and Betsy Monroe.

Borough operations remained the same with Borough Manager Julie Bastianini, secretary Shawn Marie Peterson, attorney A. Bruce Bowden of Leech Tishman as borough solicitor, Michael Palombo of Campbell Durrant as labor counsel and the firm Lennon, Smith, Souleret Engineering as borough engineers.

Indiana Township

Albert Kaan and Darrin Krally were named mayor and deputy mayor, respectively.

Supervisor Jonathan Neumann was sworn in to a new term by recently elected Allegheny County Judge Matthew Rudzki.

The other township supervisors are Paul Jorgensen and Sarah Hertweck.

Township operations remained the same with Manager Dan Anderson, engineer Dan Slagle, Solicitor Irving Firman and auditor Case Sabatini all in their respective positions.

Supervisors also approved the reappointment of Kevin McKeegan to the planning commission for a four-year term.

Robert Newland was reappointed to the vacancy board for a one-year term, which expires at the end of this year.

Kelly DeLuca was reappointed to the Deer Creek Drainage Basin Authority for a five-year term.

David Gladowski was appointed to the Shade Tree/Park & Recreation Board for a five-year term.

O’Hara

Cassandra Eccles and Richard Hughes were named council president and vice president, respectively.

Eccles, Hughes and council members George Stewart, Mike Hammill, Olivia Payne and treasurer Robert Freed were sworn in to new terms by Judge Rudzki.

Other council members are Paul Cullen and Shamus Petrucelli.

Township operations remained the same with Manager Julie Jakubec, engineer Charles Steinert, Solicitor Phil Weis and Superintendent of Police Jay Davis in their respective positions.

Sharpsburg

Mayor Kayla Portis was sworn in to a new term. She then administered the oath of office to council members Adrianne Laing, Karen Pilarski-Pastor, Roman Mason, Corey Ochai and David Breingan and Tax Collector Brian Laing.

Laing and Pilarski-Pastor were reappointed council president and vice president, respectively.

Other council members are Sarah Ishman and Jonathan Jason.

Borough operations remained the same with Manager Christine DeRunk, police Chief Tom Stelitano, treasurer Carleen Kusar, the solicitor Witherel Kalina Law Group and LSSE as borough engineer.
