The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Stuart Skinner in Thursday’s game against the rival Philadelphia Flyers at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Dan Muse announced Skinner’s status following an optional morning skate in Cranberry.
In 30 games this season, Skinner has a 14-12-4 record, a 2.71 goals-against average, an .893 save percentage and two shutouts.
Skinner has played the Flyers once this season. As a member of the Edmonton Oilers, he made 20 saves on 21 shots in a 2-1 road win Nov. 12.

• McGroarty, a rookie, is designated to injured reserve due to a concussion and operated in a non-contact capacity. He remains status quo in his recovery according to Muse.
• Penguins defenseman Jack St. Ivany is expected to play his first game against the Flyers, the team that selected him in the fourth round (No. 112 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. St. Ivany never signed with the Flyers and joined the Penguins as an unrestricted free agent in August of 2022.
• The Flyers did not stage a morning skate after traveling overnight following a 5-2 road loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
• With goaltender Dan Vladar suffering an undisclosed injury on Wednesday, the Flyers recalled goaltender Aleksei Kolosov from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League.
In a corresponding transaction, forward Bobby Brink was placed on injured reserve due to an undisclosed ailment.
• The scheduled referees are Kelly Sutherland (No. 11) and Brandon Blandina (No. 39), while the linespersons are Julien Fournier (No. 56) and Scott Cherrey (No. 50).
