On behalf of the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce, I congratulate Mayor Corey O’Connor on being sworn in as the 62nd mayor of Pittsburgh.
I have had the privilege of working with O’Connor and witnessing his steady growth into the leader he is today. From his early days representing District 5 on Pittsburgh City Council to his tenure as Allegheny County controller, he has demonstrated integrity, accountability and a genuine commitment to serving people — not positions.
Whether a question needed answered, a concern raised or an idea explored, O’Connor was always accessible. He never hesitated to take a call, sit down for a conversation or offer thoughtful, solution-driven insight. That willingness to listen and collaborate is not only admirable — it is essential to effective leadership, and it speaks volumes about the kind of mayor he will be.
As an organization representing a business community whose members and residents regularly commute to Pittsburgh for work, recreation and cultural experiences, we recognize how deeply interconnected our region truly is. I am confident that O’Connor’s strong work ethic, ability to build meaningful relationships and focus on results will play a critical role in advancing growth, opportunity and prosperity, not only for Pittsburgh, but for the entire region.
It is impossible not to reflect on the lasting legacy of his late father, former Mayor Bob O’Connor, whose leadership embodied civic pride, compassion and collaboration. I am confident that his son will continue to lead Pittsburgh in that same spirit of service, humility and progress.
