Trib HSSN basketball team of the week – Beaver Falls Tigers

Coaches – Dom Henderson (sixth season)

Record – 8-0 in Section 1-3A, 14-0 overall

#Earned –When the decade began, the Beaver Falls girls basketball program was at rock bottom, suffering through a 1-18 season in 2020.

Tigers alum Dom Henderson, a starting point guard on the 2005 Beaver Falls district championship team, returned to take over the program, which has since excelled.

In both 2021 and 2024, Beaver Falls reached the WPIAL semifinals.

Now a year after finishing 12-8 and suffering a first round playoff loss, the Tigers have been writing a perfect tale to this season.

Beaver Falls is 8-0 with a two-game lead in the race for first place in Section 1-3A. Even more impressive, the Tigers are 14-0 for the season, outscoring opponents 853-557.

On Monday of this past week, Beaver Falls did not lose focus in its trap game against Sto-Rox. The Tigers led by 20 points after one quarter and by 26 at the half on their way to a convincing 68-31 victory over the Vikings.

Three days later, first place in the section was up for grabs when Beaver Falls visited Quaker Valley.

The Tigers secured the top spot with a second victory over the Quakers, 51-48, giving Beaver Falls a two-game lead over QV and a regular season sweep between the top two teams in the section.

Scoring stars – There are only two seniors on this Beaver Falls team and one of them led the way on the scoresheet in both wins this week.

Senior guard Taylor Pullen scored 18 points against Sto-Rox and had 20 points in the win at Quaker Valley.

Fellow senior Dreaven Haskins also enjoyed a big week with 32 points. She scored 14 against the Vikings and added 18 in the victory over the Quakers.

Also in double-digit points for the Tigers in the Sto-Rox game was freshman Kiyah Tymous with 10 points.
