Kai Cox hit a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left in overtime to give Trib HSSN Class 6A No. 1 New Castle (15-0, 9-0) the lead for good in a 46-44 victory over Woodland Hills (8-9, 4-5) in Section 1-6A boys basketball Tuesday night, putting a damper on Scoop Smith Appreciation Night.

Smith, a three-sport star, was wearing a Woodland Hills uniform for the final time before enrolling early at Miami (Ohio) to prepare for his college football career. He scored 25 points, including all five Wolverines points in overtime, and hit a game-tying 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation.

Armstrong 51, Plum 31 – Carter Schotting scored 15 points and Quinton Olsen had 14 to lead Armstrong (5-10, 1-7) to a Section 2-5A win. Jesse Stead and Bryce Nabozny scored seven points apiece for Plum (4-12, 2-6).

Cheswick Christian 67, Harvest Baptist 34 – Joseph Rosio scored 28 points and became the school’s all-time steals leader and Brady Rochkind added 19 points to lead Cheswick Christian in the Southwestern Christian Athletic Conference. Asa Connolly scored 19 and Caleb Hazlett had 10 for Harvest Baptist. Rosio had eight steals to run his career total to 404, one more than the record of 403 set by Steve Holeczy in 2007.

DJ Lindenfelser dropped 20 points for the Cavaliers. Aaron Webb led all scorers with 21 points for Indiana.

Bethel Park 3, Cathedral Prep 2 – Jack Hartman scored the go-ahead goal with 5:49 to play, Lukas Cresson and Erik Husa also scored and Logan Colella made 29 saves to lead Bethel Park (9-4-1) to a Class 2A win. Michael Corritore and Chris Bruschi scored and Matei Moga made 39 saves for Cathedral Prep (2-11-2).

Canon-McMillan 6, Indiana 0 – Rocco Musto scored a pair of goals while Michael Traynor, Austin Smith, Tristan Bobbs and Brayden Edgar each added a goal for Canon-McMillan (16-0) in a Class A shutout of Indiana (6-10-1). Aiden Bobbs stopped all 16 shots he faced in net for the Big Macs.

Peters Township 5, Central Catholic 2 – Erik Schlieper had a goal and an assist and Carter Shoub, Cole Neupaver, Thomas Dowden V and Jacob Hlawati also scored in a Class 3A win for Peters Township (13-3-1).
