The PIHL announced the cancellation of its five all-star games scheduled for Sunday because of the impending winter storm expected for Western Pennsylvania.
In a statement from the league: “based on the latest information available, the storm is expected to be most severe during the time that games are scheduled. Travel conditions will be unsafe and potentially impossible. Therefore, the games are canceled.
“This decision was not made lightly. All options were considered, and we waited as long as possible moving forward. Ultimately, the safety of our players, families, officials and staff must come first.”
Five games were scheduled at Robert Morris beginning at noon with Division II all-stars and concluding with the final game starting at 7:30 p.m. with Class 3A all-stars.
The games were a showcase that featured some of the top players from the league.
There was no mention if the games will be rescheduled.
