A baby boy apparently did not want to miss Sunday’s big snow.

Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS said they were dispatched at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, just as the snow was beginning in the region, to help a mother and her newborn after the baby was born in a vehicle on side of the Parkway North while she was heading to a hospital.

Pittsburgh medics and firefighters and state police found the vehicle just before the East Ohio Street exit.

According to Pittsburgh EMS, medics checked mother and child, cut the umbilical cord and prepared them for transport. The baby was breathing normally on his own.

After allowing them some time together, the baby was taken to a hospital, while the mother was taken separately.

Mother and child were both doing fine, Pittsburgh EMS said.
