President Donald Trump threw his support behind Republican Stacy Garrity on Tuesday night as she aims to unseat Gov. Josh Shapiro as Pennsylvania governor.
In an evening Truth Social post, Trump called Garrity — who currently serves as Pennsylvania treasurer — a “true America First Patriot.”
“Stacy Garrity has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of Pennsylvania – SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!,” Trump said.
The president said Garrity would “work tirelessly” to grow the economy, cut taxes and regulations, promote American energy dominance and domestic goods, strengthen veterans and the military and ensure a secure border, law and order, elections and the second amendment.
For her part, Garrity said she was “honored” by the endorsement in a post on X. She flexed Trump’s victories in Pennsylvania in 2016 and 2024 and criticized recent lawsuits filed by Shapiro, who she described as the president’s “number one adversary.”

A retired army reservist and former businesswoman, Garrity broke Pennsylvania’s record for the most votes collected by a candidate for any statewide office when she received nearly 3.5 million votes to defeat Democrat Erin McClelland of Harrison in 2024.
Shapiro — once considered a possible choice for vice president by Kamala Harris in 2024 — is now widely seen as a potential Democratic candidate for president in 2028. Raised in Montgomery County, Shapiro was elected governor in 2022 after serving as the state attorney general.
He announced his reelection campaign for governor in an Allegheny County union hall earlier this month.
Just before Trump’s endorsement, the governor added to a string of legal actions against the federal government by filing a challenge to the administration’s removal of an exhibit on slavery at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia.
Pennsylvania Democrats, hoping to flip seats in Harrisburg and Washington in this year’s midterms, quickly latched on to the endorsement Tuesday in a post on X.
“Donald Trump’s endorsement of Stacy Garrity is a reminder that she supports every single one of his harmful, unpopular policies: drastic health care cuts raising our costs, reckless tariffs killing our jobs, and threats to our freedoms hurting our democracy,” the post said.
