Mike McCarthy will reunite with one of his former assistant coaches.

Adam Henry, who served as McCarthy’s wide receivers coach in Dallas for two seasons, will take the same role with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to an NFL Network report. McCarthy said Tuesday he’d already begun to assemble his coaching staff.

The Steelers haven’t yet announced any hires.

Henry, 53, served the past three seasons as wide receivers coach for the Buffalo Bills. He and McCarthy spent the 2020 and ’21 seasons together in Dallas.

A longtime coach, Henry first broke into the NFL as a quality control coach for the Raiders offense in 2007. He’d since worked as an NFL receivers coach for the 49ers, Giants, Browns, Cowboys and Bills, along with college coaching stints at LSU and Indiana.

Some of his best seasons were in Dallas, where Henry worked with receivers CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper.

The tandem combined for 166 receptions in 2021 as the Cowboys’ offense led the league in points and yards. A year earlier, the team led the NFC in receptions (413) and Lamb set a franchise rookie record with 74.

Henry’s contract in Dallas expired after the 2021 season, and the Cowboys later replaced him with a receivers coach who had ties to then-offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Henry jumped to the college ranks for one season as co-offensive coordinator at Indiana.

He joined the Bills in 2023.

Henry’s resume also includes a three-year stint as pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU, where he helped develop future NFL receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.

In Buffalo, Henry worked under coach Sean McDermott, who was fired this month. The Bills promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach on Tuesday.

Buffalo ranked ninth in yards per catch (11.6) this past season, but had only one receiver reach 40 receptions. Fourth-year pro Khalil Shakir had a team-best 72 catches for 719 yards and four touchdowns.

The Bills’ passing offense ranked eighth and ninth overall behind Pro Bowl quarterback Josh Allen in Henry’s first two years before slipping to 15th this season.

Henry joins a Steelers offense that ranked 27th in yards per catch last season (10). Running back Kenneth Gainwell led the team with 73 catches. Among the true wideouts, DK Metcalf made 59 receptions, and Calvin Austin III had 31.

Zach Azzanni served the past two seasons as the Steelers wide receivers coach.
