Fundraisers

• Herald Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield, will host a soup, chili and bake-off competition from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the church. The public can sample entries and then vote for their favorites in each category. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit general church operating costs.

• Jeannette American Legion will host bingo at 1 p.m. Feb. 1 at the post, 109 S. Fifth St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25 per packet, includes regular and special games. There will be a $750 jackpot game, magic number, door prizes and 50-50. The kitchen will be open. Smoke-free venue. Proceeds benefit veterans and community activities. Details: Rick, 724-600-5061.

• A soup sale will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Cook Township Community Center, 1714 Route 711. Dine in or takeout. The food pantry and pet food pantry at the Open Hands Thrift Store inside the community center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. • A takeout stuffed chicken breast dinner to benefit West Newton Woman’s Club will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at Gary’s Chuckwagon, 109 S. Second St., West Newton. Menu: stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coleslaw, roll & butter and cake, $20. Proceeds will benefit club charities. Tickets: 724-872-7937.
