Alle Kiski Strong Chamber plans murder-mystery dinner

A murder-mystery dinner to benefit Alle Kiski Strong Chamber of Commerce will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Hill Crest Country Club, 3411 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. service planned Sunday

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Alle-Kiski NAACP will host the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Abundant Life, 884 Kenneth Ave., New Kensington.

The Rev. Cletus Hull, pastor of Trinity United Christian Church, Lower Burrell, will be the speaker. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund that awards scholarships to area high school seniors who plan on furthering their education at a college or trade school.


Seed library available at Peoples Library

Peoples Library now sponsors a Seed Library at both the Lower Burrell and New Kensington locations.

Patrons can check out three packets of seeds each visit for a total of 12 per growing season. Seeds should be planted and the plants harvested and seeds saved.

After the harvest, bring your seeds to the library for placement in the collection for someone else. For more information, call 724-339-1021.


Purse bash to raise funds for Highlands football program

Highlands Golden Rams Varsity Football Gridiron will host a purse bash fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Brackenridge American Legion, 845 First Ave.

Tickets are $40, and include 21 tickets for the purse drawings, nonalcoholic drinks and light snacks. Each person who attends will receive a gift. There will be over 35 designer bags, pick of the table, a basket raffle and a 50-50. Cash, checks and Venmo will be accepted.
