Pittsburgh police arrested a Wilkinsburg man accused of assaulting a woman and using her vehicle to get away.
Charges against Jermaine Turner, 34, include aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, simple assault and terroristic threats.
The victim in the case told officers that Turner, whom she knows, let himself inside her house in Wilkinsburg at around 10 p.m. Tuesday, while she was asleep, according to a criminal complaint.
Turner began yelling at the woman, demanding money and was physically hurting her, she told police. Turner refused to leave the house, took her phones and threatened to shoot her, the complaint said.
On Wednesday, the woman talked Turner into leaving the house by promising him that she’d go to the bank and withdraw money to give him, the complaint said.
While driving to the bank Turner continued threatening to shoot her and hit her repeatedly in the face with the gun, the complaint said.
At the bank, in the 500 block of Penn Avenue, the woman alerted employees to call the police, the complaint said. Turner fled the scene in the woman’s car, the complaint said.
Medics took the woman to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Pittsburgh police on Friday afternoon located Turner in the 7300 block of Monticello Street in Homewood, according to a criminal complaint. There, police located the gun alleged to be used in the assault from earlier in the week.
Turner is being held in the Allegheny County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Feb. 9 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court.
