Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, during a Fox News interview on Sunday, said he was in support of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents wearing masks to protect them and their families from being identified and pursued by left-wing protesters.

“Some of those agents wearing masks, primarily that’s driven by people who are going to dox those people,” Fetterman said. “That’s a serious concern, too, absolutely. They can target their families.”

“Don’t ever ever dox people and target their families too,” he added.

“Doxxing” means maliciously gathering and publicly releasing someone’s private, identifying information (such as name, address, employer, or Social Security number) without their consent, to shame, harass, intimidate or harm them. Recently, it has been used to target and threaten people perceived to have spoken ill of Charlie Kirk after he was killed, and recently in Philadelphia, misidentify the “Phillies Karen,” The Philadelphia Inquirer noted in its story.

His comments on Fox News to Jacqui Heinrich, host of “The Sunday Briefing,” come as many websites and apps have been created over the last 12 months to track the location of ICE agents.

Other new websites and databases reveal personal information about immigration agents.

The New York Post reported on Saturday on one “Wikipedia-style” website that has doxxed more than 4,500 current and former agents.

Fetterman’s appearance took place as congressional leaders continue to fight over ICE funding after the shooting deaths of Alex Pretti by a Border Patrol agent and Renée Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

Last week, Senate Democrats attached a list of reforms to a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security, of which ICE is a part. The proposal includes banning federal agents carrying out President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown from wearing masks, among other conditions.

Fetterman has been one of the most vocal Democrats supporting ICE, but last Tuesday, in a Facebook post asked Trump to fire Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

“Americans have died. She is betraying DHS’ core mission and trashing your legacy to secure our border,” he wrote. “DO NOT make the same mistake President Biden made for not firing a grossly incompetent DHS Secretary.”
