A Pittsburgh LEGO set has the potential to be reviewed by designers for production — but it needs 10,000 community votes first.

At the beginning of January, creator “Chris74” posted a LEGO model of the Pittsburgh skyline on the LEGO Ideas crowdsourcing platform, which gives regular people the opportunity to make their set ideas come to life.

People can vote for their favorite ideas on the site to become official LEGO products, but they need 10,000 votes to be reviewed to become an official set.

As of Monday, the Pittsburgh set idea stands at just over 6,700 supporters, with 761 days left to reach 10,000.

According to the idea’s description, the set is an architecture model of Downtown Pittsburgh and its three rivers. Notable landmarks include PPG Place, One Gateway Center, U.S. Steel Tower, Gulf Tower, Tower at PNC Plaza, BNY Mellon Center, and Fifth Avenue Place.

“With this model, I have set out to capture the spirit of this amazing city defined by its unique landscape, iconic bridges and a skyline shaped by both industry and innovation,” the creator wrote in the description. “Built at the confluence of three rivers, Pittsburgh’s architecture tells the story of a city that transformed itself from a steel powerhouse into a modern center of technology, education and design.”

In addition to the buildings listed above, the set would include PNC Park, two inclines, bridges like Fort Pitt, Fort Duquesne, Roberto Clemente and Smithfield Street, Point State Park and the fountain, the ice rink at PPG Place, the giant rubber duck that visited Pittsburgh in 2013 and the Gateway Clipper riverboats, a duck boat and a coal barge.

The famous sinkhole bus from 2019 will be featured as well.

Chris74 said LEGO should create the set because Pittsburgh is a major U.S. city not already featured in the company’s Architecture lineup, and it offers “a fresh and visually distinctive skyline.”

“Architecture sets aim to tell the story of a place. From the expressive glass spires of 1 PPG Place to the clean modernism of One Gateway Center and the innovative sustainability of the Tower at PNC Plaza, this set showcases a rare mix of historic influence and forward-looking architecture within a single city,” the description says.
