2 flown from Washington County fire

Two people were transported by medical helicopter following a fire Monday evening at a high-rise apartment in Washington County, according to county 911 officials.

More than half-dozen fire crews were called to the Bentley Towers on Washington Street in Bentleyville shortly after 9 p.m., emergency officials said.

Fire crews cleared the scene shortly after 1 a.m., a 911 supervisor said.

Bentley Towers is described as a elderly-occupied apartment building built in 1985, according to the Washington County Housing Authority.

North Versailles businesses reportedly damaged by gunfire

Several businesses in North Versailles were damaged Monday night from reported gunshots.

According to TribLive news partner WTAE, caution tape had been placed outside businesses along Greensburg Pike, including the Boost Mobile and Cricket stores. Glass windows at multiple businesses were shattered.

No injuries were reported. North Versailles police are investigating.

Suspect flees police, arrested in Bloomfield

Pittsburgh police arrested a man wanted on multiple warrants late Monday night in the city’s Bloomfield neighborhood.

Two officers were on patrol shortly before midnight when they said they saw Brandon Arrington, 29, address unknown, walking on the 4400 block of Howley Street. Arrington is wanted on two arrest warrants, one issued following a guilty plea to disorderly conduct charges stemming from a September court date; and another stemming from a Dec. 2 burglary.

Arrington was ordered to stop as police positioned themselves in front and behind him, according to a criminal complaint. Police said Arrington balled up his fists and assumed a fighting stance, but fled toward Friendship Avenue when one of the officers brought out a Taser.

While officers searched for Arrington, a 911 call came in for an individual matching his clothing description. The officers responded and found a pair of gray sweatpants on the ground behind an apartment building on the 300 block of Main Street.

Arrington was spotted a short time later behind the same building and taken into custody.

He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and is awaiting arraignment on charges of fleeing to avoid apprehension.
