The Greensburg Community Development Corporation is accepting applications for its annual Hometown Hero banner program.

The installation, launched in 2020, honors Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg residents who have left an impact on the community — including military veterans, first responders and local officials. Nearly 70 people were honored in May with banners, which hang from poles along prominent roads in both communities.

Applications will be accepted through March 13. To qualify for a banner, the person must have been a Greensburg or Southwest Greensburg resident, a graduate of a Greensburg high school or an immediate family member of a current Greensburg or Southwest Greensburg resident.

New banner applications cost $175. Banners also can be renewed twice, hanging for a total of three years. Renewals cost $100 per year. Those looking to honor the same person with a banner beyond the three years can do so by paying the $175 fee again.

Honorees will be recognized during a ceremony May 23 at the Robertshaw Amphitheater in Greensburg’s St. Clair Park. Banners will be displayed until summer 2027. To apply for a banner, visit thinkgreensburg.com.
