The State Board of Nursing has temporarily suspended a Westmoreland County nurse’s license in connection with allegations that she had sexual relations with a patient at Torrance State Hospital, according to documents filed with the Department of State.

Dana R. Coxon, 40, of Penn Township was licensed as a registered nurse in 2014. The temporary suspension order was issued this week.

In a petition for the temporary suspension, a state prosecuting attorney indicated Coxon had sexual relations with a patient in a treatment program designated for criminal sex offenders while she was working on that unit.

She was hired at the psychiatric hospital in Derry Township in May 2024 and worked there until her resignation in November 2025, according to the petition filed by David J. Schertz, a prosecuting attorney for the state Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.

No charges have been filed against Coxon. She could not be reached for comment.
