Norwin senior linebacker Josh Lenart has committed to a Division I program, pledging to Lehigh of the FCS Patriot League.

Lenart said Lehigh felt like home.

“Lehigh is where I see myself for the next four years,” he said. “The biggest thing for me was that I wanted to go to a program that wanted me, and Lehigh definitely does. The culture of Lehigh is somewhere I want to be (a part of). I’m still taking it in, but being a D-I commit is from all my hard work and dedication. It feels great, but I just want to get back to work.”

Lenart had 28 tackles, six for loss, two sacks and one interception this season as Norwin made the WPIAL Class 6A playoffs for the first time since 2017.

He added 15 receptions for 145 yards and two TDs on offense.

Still alive

Norwin wasn’t ready to pack it in after losing five of seven Section 2-6A games.

A playoff spot was still in reach, and a nice turnaround against a team it has struggled to beat boosted the Knights’ confidence.

Norwin ripped past Imani Christian, 66-49, at CCAC-Allegheny to split their season series and pulled to within a half-game of fourth place. The top five teams — and ties — in each eight-team section made the WPIAL playoffs.

Chris McKnight scored 18, Mario Csukas added 16, Alex Graney 13 and King Carver 11 as the Knights ran past the Saints after losing to them at home, 53-46.

Hockey falls

The Norwin hockey team took Cathedral Prep to overtime but dropped a 3-2 decision at Palmer Imaging Arena for its third straight loss.

Zayn Zeravica and Mason Hohman scored for the Knights, who moved to 3-11-1-2 on the season.

D-I offer

Norwin senior football player Michael DeFazio has a Division I opportunity.

DeFazio (6-3, 210) has an offer from Mercyhurst. He is a tight end/H-back/linebacker.

He also grabbed a Division II offer from Wheeling. He has nine offers overal.

Bombs away

They call Adam Bilinsky “Bomber.”

The former Norwin basketball standout was on full blast against Seton Hill.

The junior guard erupted for a career-high 35 points in a 97-88 victory over the visiting Griffins.

The top number is impressive, but so is how he got to it. Bilinsky made 13 of 14 shots, including a career-best 6 of 7 3-pointers, adding six rebounds and five assists.

Bilinsky has scored in double figures 13 times this season. He had never scored more than 20 in a game at UPJ.

Dunn deal

IUP senior outfielder Elijah Dunn, a Norwin grad, was named to the National College Baseball Writers Association All-Atlantic Region Team.

Dunn, who made the NCBWA All-Atlantic second team and PSAC West first team last season, slugged .639, hit 11 home runs and drove in 35.

He has 22 career homers, putting him fifth all-time in the program.
