#Earned – A year ago, the Indiana boys basketball team finished in fourth place in Section 2-5A, qualifying for the WPIAL playoffs.

The Little Indians’ stay in the postseason was over in a blink as they lost at Franklin Regional in a preliminary round game to determine the No. 16 seed, ending their season at 10-13.

However, this season has been very different for the Little Indians thanks in part to the very large presence of 6-foot-8 junior forward Aaron Webb.

He is one of the top scorers in the district, averaging 22.5 points per game.

Webb was at his best in two section victories this week.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Indiana was in a three-way battle with Hampton and Kiski Area for the final two playoff spots in Section 2-5A.

At second-place Shaler on Tuesday, Webb scored 35 points in a tight, 68-63 victory over the Titans.

In that game, Webb hit a milestone mark by scoring his 1,000th career point.

Another memorable game wrapped up section play and clinched Indiana a playoff berth on Friday, when the Little Indians knocked off visiting Plum, 82-65.

Webb was unstoppable, setting a new school record by scoring 49 points in the clinching victory. It was a record set by his father, Stan Webb, who happens to be the all-time leading scorer at Indiana and is a Little Indians assistant coach.

However, there is another Webb alert on this Indiana team in twin brother Darius Webb. Darius averages 14 points per game and more than 7 rebounds per contest.

While Darius Webb’s future might be in football (6-4, 230), Aaron is drawing major Division I interest in basketball.

Webb has scholarship offers from Penn State, Virginia Tech, LaSalle, James Madison and Pepperdine.
