A suspect in a weekend shooting in McKees Rocks was found dead Monday after a car crash in nearby Kennedy.

Allegheny County Police said they identified Edward Sparrow, 22, a suspect in a Saturday night shooting that critically injured a woman in the 100 block of McKees Rocks’ Jane Street.

Two days later, detectives found a man they believed to be Sparrow dead on a steep hillside in Kennedy. Authorities said the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office will formally identify the man.

Kennedy police said they initially were dispatched to Langer Way around 8 p.m. Saturday when someone called 911 to report a single-car crash. Arriving officers, however, found a vehicle in the road’s 100 block damaged but unoccupied.

A witness later told authorities they saw a man matching Sparrow’s description jump over a guardrail, police said. His body was found nearby Monday.

The shooting occurred Saturday night but was not reported until 11 a.m. Sunday, police said. First responders took the victim, who they have not named, to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Detectives are working with area fire departments to recover Sparrow’s body, police said.
