Karis Thomas scored 25 points, becoming the 47th WPIAL girls basketball player to reach the 2,000-point mark for her career, as Shady Side Academy (20-2) tuned up for the playoffs with a 54-34 victory over Obama Academy (9-2) in nonsection girls basketball Monday night.

Thomas also became the school’s all-time scoring leader in boys or girls basketball.

Nia Benjamin scored 11 points and Arianna Treadwell had 10 for the Eagles.
