A vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 70 early Tuesday morning struck a tractor-trailer and caused it to catch fire.
Traffic between the New Stanton-Hunker and Madison exits is heavily restricted as a result.
The collision happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. A car and three semi-trucks were involved, according to the New Stanton Volunteer Fire Department.
The crash resulted in a fuel spill, which led to the fire, the department said.
Pennsylvania State Police said there were no fatalities, but the driver of an SUV was being treated at a nearby hospital, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
Authorities are expected to provide further details at a press conference around 10 a.m.
PennDOT said the eastbound lanes remained fully closed as of about 9:30 a.m. The closure will switch to a single-lane restriction around noon as crews repair the median barrier.
Westbound lane restrictions have been lifted.
Traffic was at one point backed up for miles, according to WTAE.
