Nine football players from Penn State and two from Pitt have received invitations to participate in the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
They will be among 319 prospects in attendance Feb. 23-March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the NFL announced Wednesday.
Players will perform medical exams, interviews and on-field drills to showcase their abilities for NFL teams.
Pitt running back Desmond Reid and linebacker Kyle Louis were invited.
• Reid was an All-American in 2024 but was hampered by injuries last fall. He had 60 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns in seven games and added 23 catches for 317 yards and two scores.
• Louis, also an All-American in 2024, had 81 tackles (8½ for loss) with three sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries this season to earn All-ACC honors.
Penn State’s contingent includes quarterback Drew Allar, running backs Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton, tight end Khalil Dinkins, offensive linemen Vega Ioane and Drew Shelton, defensive linemen Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zane Durant and defensive back Zakee Wheatley.
• Allar played 45 career games at Penn State and threw for more than 7,400 yards and 61 touchdowns. His season was cut short after six games when he suffered a broken ankle against Northwestern.
• Allen was a first-team All-Big 10 selection after he became Penn State’s career rushing yardage leader (4,180 yards). He had 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.
• Singleton was honorable mention All-Big 10 after rushing for 3,461 career yards and 45 touchdowns and catching 102 passes for 987 yards and nine scores.
• Dinkins, a North Allegheny grad, was honorable mention All-Big 10. He caught 37 passes for 399 yards and seven touchdowns in his career, including 14 catches for 167 yards and two scores last fall.
• Ioane, a first-team All-Big 10 honoree, allowed zero sacks and two pressures on 310 pass blocking snaps in 2025.
• Shelton was an honorable mention all-conference selection for a second straight season. He allowed one sack in 354 pass blocking snaps.
• Dennis-Sutton made 127 tackles in his career, including 23½ sacks as one of the nation’s top edge rushers.
• Durant stood at defensive tackle, compiling 89 career tackles and 10 sacks in 54 games.
• Wheatley, a safety, had 223 tackles and six interceptions in 58 career games.
Also among the invitees is Navy running back Eli Heidenreich, a Mt. Lebanon grad.
• Heidenreich was picked for the East-West Shrine Game after he ran for 475 yards and had 925 receiving yards.
