Mimi Thiero hit for 30 points to power No. 4 Quaker Valley to a 50-36 victory over No. 13 Keystone Oaks in the WPIAL Class 3A girls basketball first round Friday night.

Keira Watson added 11 points for the Quakers (17-6), who will take on No. 5 Seton LaSalle in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Natalee Tortorella scored 14 points and Hannah York had 11 for the Golden Eagles (12-10).

Avonworth 42, Riverside 32 – Julia Nardozzi led No. 8 Avonworth (12-11) with 14 points and three 3-pointers in a Class 3A first-round win. Emma Meyer scored 10 points for No. 9 Riverside (14-8). The Antelopes will meet No. 1 Shady Side Academy in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

Baldwin 52, Chartiers Valley 37 – Lynsey Bernotas scored 16 points and Isabella Niles had 14 to lead No. 4 Baldwin (19-4) to a Class 5A first-round win. Alyssa Davis scored 22 points for No. 13 Chartiers Valley (8-15). Julianne Ott added 12 points for the Highlanders, who will face No. 12 Peters Township in Wednesday’s quarterfinal.

Beaver Falls 73, South Allegheny 15 – Second-seeded Beaver Falls (21-1) rolled past No. 15 South Allegheny (7-16) in the Class 2A first round. The Tigers will face No. 7 Waynesburg in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

Greensburg Central Catholic 67, Mohawk 21 – Erica Gribble scored 23 points and Avery Jones added 20 for No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic in a Class 3A first-round win. The Centurions (17-7), who led 27-7 after one quarter, will meet No. 6 OLSH in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Addy Moskal scored nine points to lead Mohawk (8-14).

Indiana 63, Mars 36 – Julia Antonacci led with 20 points, including six 3-pointers, and Laken Kugler followed with 17 points for No. 3 Indiana (20-3) in a Class 5A first-round win. Alexis Cashdollar scored 15 points for No. 14 Mars (10-13). Samantha Martin added 12 points for the Little Indians, who will meet No. 6 Penn-Trafford in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

OLSH 54, McGuffey 20 – Lola Garner hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead No. 6 OLSH (18-6) to a Class 3A first-round win. Eliana Janovich scored nine points for No. 11 McGuffey (12-11). The Chargers will face No. 3 Greensburg Central Catholic in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.

Seton LaSalle 61, Sto-Rox 27 – Ava Maroney hit six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to lead No. 5 Seton LaSalle (15-8) in the Class 3A first round. Casey Davis added nine points on three 3-pointers for the Rebels, who will face No. 4 Quaker Valley in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Allison Dotson scored seven points to lead No. 12 Sto-Rox (8-13).

South Fayette 78, Kiski Area 19 – Haylie Lamonde scored 18 points as top-seeded South Fayette (22-1) defeated No. 16 Kiski Area (11-11) in the Class 5A first round. Juliette Leroux added 16 points for the Lions, who will take on No. 9 Trinity in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Gianna DeVito scored 11 points for the Cavaliers.

Thomas Jefferson 65, Penn Hills 26 – Maggie Spell scored 24 points and Emily Hritz added 14 to lead No. 2 Thomas Jefferson (21-2) to a Class 5A first-round win. Milani Oliver scored 19 points for No. 15 Penn Hills (11-12). The Jaguars will meet No. 7 Fox Chapel in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

Trinity 50, West Allegheny 48 – Vitt Emerich scored 14 points, including two free throws after being fouled on a desperation 3-point attempt at the buzzer, to lead No. 9 Trinity (17-6) to a Class 5A first-round win. Sutton Williamson scored 15 points for the Hillers, who will face No. 1 South Fayette in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Bre Gubba scored 13 points and Emma Ruperto had 11 for No. 8 West Allegheny (18-5).

Waynesburg 55, Deer Lakes 26 – Tess Pauley scored 23 points to lead No. 7 Waynesburg (21-2) to a Class 3A first-round win over No. 10 Deer Lakes (11-11). Emma Blair added 14 points for the Raiders, who pulled away with a 16-0 run in the third quarter. Waynesburg will meet No. 2 Beaver Falls in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

Central Valley 50, Highlands 44 – Ryan Conti and Angelo Conti scored 13 points apiece to lead No. 6 Central Valley (16-7) in the Class 4A first round. The Warriors, who will meet No. 3 Knoch in the quarterfinals Wednesday, trailed by 11 points at halftime before rallying with a 22-8 advantage in the third quarter. Troy Bielak scored 17 points and Ty Hall had 11 for No. 11 Highlands (11-12).

Elizabeth Forward 83, Avonworth 60 – Daniel Spence scored 22 points and Jack Crovak added 21 to power No. 7 Elizabeth Forward (14-9) to a Class 4A first-round win. Tyler Basic finished with 17 and Jacob Peterson chipped in 10 for the Warriors, who will take on No. 2 North Catholic in the quarterfinals Wednesday. Will Shields and Jaden Jones each scored 15 points for No. 10 Avonworth (11-12).

Knoch 56, East Allegheny 21 – Vinnie DeFelice scored 19 points as No. 3 Knoch (19-4) rolled past No. 14 East Allegheny (10-10) in the Class 4A first round. Teegan Finucan added 13 for the Knights, who will take on No. 6 Central Valley in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
