My inspiration to work with the Alzheimer’s Association was my sister, who was diagnosed at 47; she passed away this past August at 57. We were a year apart, and she was my person; my best friend.

Alzheimer’s runs strong in my family, and while I’m no longer fighting for her, I’m fighting for not just my family, but every family in Pennsylvania. The bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act (House Resolution 6130) represents a potentially transformative step toward leveraging diagnostic innovation for earlier detection of Alzheimer’s disease.

It’s imperative to secure cosponsorship of the bipartisan ASAP Act, which would give the Health and Human Services secretary authority to provide Medicare coverage for routine screening for dementia.

This is not a Republican or Democratic issue; it can impact us all in one way or another, now or in years to come. Write to your local congress member and senator to ensure your voice is heard, encouraging them to cosponsor the ASAP Act to expand Medicare coverage for routine screening for dementia.
