Travelers who have Pittsburgh International Airport as part of their commute now can now dine at five new airside concessions.
At a grand opening on Tuesday, Pittsburgh’s airport became one of more than 50 airports across the United States, Canada and Brazil to house dining options operated by SSP America, a specialized food and beverage operator headquartered in Virginia.
Dining options feature a blend of local favorite Convive Coffee Roasters, nationally recognized Shake Shack, and three SSP America boutique brands: Stack & Press, Mi Casa Cantina and Bad Egg Breakfast Shack.
The new restaurants are the latest additions to a sweeping overhaul at Pittsburgh International Airport, which also includes an 811,000-square-foot terminal, a 5,000-space parking garage and a connector bridge linking the new terminal to the existing airside terminal, as previously reported by TribLive.
What’s on the menu?
All five of the dining spots are located in the pre-security terminal on the concourse level, according to the airport’s website.
Convive Coffee Roastery was founded in Pittsburgh in 2012, according to the company’s website, and is known for small-batch-roasted coffee. The coffee company has four locations outside the airport including: McCandless, North Shore, Mars and Lawrenceville.
Shake Shack’s made-to-order burgers, crinkle-cut fries and shakes are found in more than 33 states including four in the Pittsburgh area, according to the website.
Bad Egg Breakfast Shack is a breakfast spot with morning dishes such as omelets and eggs Benedict.
Stack & Press Delicatessen is an SSP America boutique brand offering deli-inspired dishes such as freshly made sandwiches and pressed juice.
Mi Casa Cantina is a casual Mexican restaurant and bar offering comfort food, tacos, and signature margaritas with fast, table-side service.
“Designed to offer bold taste and flexibility, the concept combines familiar favorites with fresh ingredients, making it an ideal option for travelers seeking a satisfying sit-down or quick-service meal,” said the news release.
