A 37-year-old man is accused of killing a 69-year-old man in Butler on Saturday.

According to state police, Richard Alan Swann II, of Butler, was identified as a suspect after James P. Hoover was found dead.

Butler police responded to a report of a dead man at a home in the 400 block of Miller Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

City police identified Hoover, determined from the scene that his death was a homicide and asked state police to take over the investigation, state police said.

Swann was identified as the suspect and found, state police said.

Swann was arrested and charged with homicide, robbery, aggravated assault and theft. He was being held at the Butler County Jail, state police said.
