Tarentum police are investigating after a market in the borough was burglarized late Friday night.
The break-in at Horizon Market on East Sixth Avenue happened around midnight, police said.
Two people gained entry by smashing through the glass front door.
The store was closed at the time, and no one was hurt, police said.
Police would not disclose what if anything the burglars took.
As of Sunday, police said they had not made any arrests or identified suspects. Police did not provide any descriptions of the burglars, who they said were disguised.
The store was open Sunday, its door covered with a wood panel and notes that said, “Come in, we are open, don’t mind our new door,” and “Sorry no pets allowed as we work on cleaning up glass.”
Store owner Cameron Yockey could not be reached for comment Sunday.
According to the store’s Facebook account, a $500 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest of the burglars. The post included images from the store’s surveillance cameras.
“We will fight to the end for the capture of these two individuals,” the post says, adding that someone knows who the culprits are. “Do the right thing. The safety of our neighborhood relies on strict, non tolerance of criminal actions.”
Billed as a small grocery story, Horizon Market opened in 2025 in the storefront that was previously home to Asay’s News Stand.
A second Horizon Market opened in New Kensington in December. A third is planned for the Natrona section of Harrison.
