At Allegheny Health Network, there were a record number of births in 2025 across all of its labor and delivery units.
Of those births, there were some standout names chosen.
The most popular boy name of 2025 was Henry and the most popular girl name of 2025 was once again Olivia.
The name Olivia has topped the charts for four years running now, since 2022, according to AHN. It is also the top name nationally, AHN said.
Henry knocked 2024’s top boy name Oliver down to 13th place in 2025, and in 2024, the name Henry wasn’t even in the top five, AHN said.
Nationally, the most popular boy name was Noah. Henry was ranked No. 13 nationally.
Out of the 8,756 babies born across the health network, there were 42 babies named Henry, closely followed by 40 babies named Bennett. There were 43 girls named Olivia, with the second-place girl name going to 40 babies named Amelia.
The top five names for baby boys and girls include the following, according to AHN:
Boys
1. Henry
2. Bennett
3. Owen
4. Theodore
5. William
Girls
1. Olivia
2. Amelia
3. Charlotte
4. Sophia
5. Violet
“We look forward to releasing this list annually as a celebration of all the beautiful babies born across Allegheny Health Network, and we also take this special moment to recognize and applaud the hundreds of L&D clinicians who deliver remarkable patient experiences daily,” said Dr. Marcia Klein-Patel, chair of the AHN Women’s Institute.
The 8,756 births recorded in 2025 mark the highest number since the network was formed by Highmark Health in 2013.
“Over the last decade, this network has made a concerted effort to increase the number of obstetrics units in the region, adding not only AHN Jefferson’s program but opening AHN Wexford hospital in 2021,” Klein-Patel said. “We have also made significant investments to strategically affiliate with leading, independent OB/GYN practices across our service area — all to preserve and steward exceptional obstetrics care for the families we have the privilege of serving.”
Overall, over 2,000 baby names were unique to AHN in 2025, meaning they were only used one time.
