A Sheetz gas station and convenience store under construction on Route 30 in Hempfield will have alcohol sales after township supervisors approved the transfer of a liquor license.

The license was moved from the Youngwood location that closed in October 2024.

The vast majority of Sheetz stores sell alcohol in the form of beer, wine and ready-to-drink cocktails, Gregory A. Szallar, attorney with Flaherty & O’Hara, told supervisors Monday during a public hearing. The convenience store will have seating for 30 people.

“The same way that we operate at all of our locations, they’ll be operating the same way,” he said.

Progress has been moving quickly at the construction site. The exterior of the store building is constructed and the gas pump overhang is standing. The new location is at Route 30 and West Hills Drive, the former site of a Rite Aid, across the highway from Greengate Centre.

Hempfield supervisors approved the site plans in February 2025.
