A Lower Burrell man is in Allegheny County Jail after Tarentum police charged him with felony aggravated assault and robbery of a vehicle in connection with a Christmastime attack at the borough’s Marathon station.
Robert Harmon, 35, also faces charges of theft, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and simple assault. His bail was set at $100,000.
Harmon is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 4 before District Judge Carolyn Bengel in Brackenridge.
According to police, Harmon tried to stab a man at the gas station along East Sixth Avenue before stealing his minivan in the early-morning hours of Dec. 26.
Officers were able to identify Harmon after tracking down a man who gave him a ride to the gas station earlier in the night, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.
That man had asked to see his Harmon’s ID before driving him from Lower Burrell to Tarentum, police said.
According to the complaint, Harmon was wearing a camo face covering when he approached the victim, who was pumping gas. Harmon walked past him but returned, holding a knife, police said.
Harmon tried to stab the victim, who fell to the ground and injured his wrist and back, the complaint said.
The victim told police that Harmon got into his Dodge Caravan and drove toward Route 28.
