How they got here: South Allegheny defeated No. 9 Ellwood City, 52-50, in the first round; No. 1 Mohawk, 64-63, in the quarterfinals; and No. 13 Shady Side Academy, 48-43, in the semifinals.

Notable: South Allegheny is the defending WPIAL Class 3A defending champion after beating Aliquippa in the finals last season. … The Gladiators finished third in Section 3 at 7-3. They have won nine of their last 10 games after enduring a five-game losing streak. … Drew Cook, the WPIAL’s leading scorer this season at 27 ppg, is nearing 2,000 career points. The Quips won Class 2A titles in 2023 and ‘24 along with a state title in 2024. … The Quips are in the championship game for the fourth straight season. … Aliquippa was second in Section 1 at 10-2.
