Hempfield junior Madison Altman and Latrobe junior Preston Miller brought home gold medals from the Tri-State Track Coaches Association’s indoor championship on Feb. 21 at Edinboro University.

Altman edged out South Fayette senior Delaney Schumaker in the 60-meter hurdles. Both girls ran 8.99 seconds.

Miller nudged out Seneca Valley senior Noah Rieger in the 60-meter dash. Miller ran a 6.89.

Both are among numerous athletes from Hempfield, Norwin and Greensburg Salem heading to the Pennsylvania State Track Coaches Association Indoor Championship on Sunday at Penn State.

Joining Altman are Jonathan Stetchock (1,600- and 3,000-meter run), the 800-meter relay team of Isaiah Bittner, Ryan Ewing, Carter Moody and Blake Rumbaugh, Brayden Ser (high jump), Chesnee Smith (800), Jiana Patterson (shot put) and the 3,200-meter relay team of Emma Maskanick, Sofia Weimer, Grace Reese and Lyla Moody.

Stetchock set indoor school records in the 800, 1,600, 3,000 and 3,200 and as a member of the 3,200-meter relay team.

Smith broke a record in the 800.

Norwin had numerous boys and girls qualify.

For the boys, Ben McBride (mile and 3,000), Alex Barrett (mile), Xander Irwin (pole vault), Jerimiah Francis (60 hurdles) and the 3,200 relay team of Barrett, William Little, McBride, Owen Rankin, Declan O’Donnell and Ransom Gaydos qualified.

For the girls, it was Annie Czajkowski (mile), Myla McCabe (400), the distance medley relay team of Czajkowski, McCabe, Anna Dansak, Emily Dansak, Jillian Ryba, Addie Farrah and Oliva Andrykovitch, and 3,200-meter relay team of Czajkowski, Anna Dansak, Emma Dansak, Farrah and Kaelyn Lazar.

Luke Rullo qualified in the triple jump from Greensburg Salem.
