With the WPIAL and the other 11 district postseasons in the rearview mirror, it is time for the PIAA state playoffs to begin.
The PIAA girls basketball playoffs will tip off Friday and Saturday with first-round action.
Thirty-six WPIAL teams, including six newly crowned champions, are set to begin a challenging five-round quest for a state championship.
