It may be a soggy but warmer week ahead for Western Pennsylvania, according to local meteorologists.

The Pittsburgh region could see anywhere between 1 to 4 inches of rain this week, with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s on Friday and Saturday, WTAE meteorologist Ashley Dougherty said in her Monday morning forecast.

Monday’s high is 42 degrees, and the low is 20 degrees, Dougherty said, with light snow predicted in southern Greene and Fayette counties.

Tuesday morning’s weather could hold a wintry mix or freezing rain, Dougherty said.

“It’s all going to be dependent on the ground temperature,” she said. “It is warm enough in the sky to fall as rain, but overall we do have the potential for some freezing rain before the ground starts to warm up.”

Heavier rain is predicted for Tuesday evening, she said. Tuesday’s high looks to be 52 degrees with a low of 30 degrees.

The most likely day to see a break from rain is Wednesday, Dougherty said, with a predicted high of 58 degrees.

“(There’s a) small chance for a few isolated showers on Wednesday. I think it’s going to be the driest day of the week,” she said.

Rain is expected from Thursday into Monday of next week, Dougherty said.

Temperatures Thursday are predicted to range from 54 to 68 degrees. On Friday, that range goes from 54 to 70 degrees, and Saturday from 55 to 70 degrees. On Sunday, temperatures range from 45 to 66 degrees, and 54 to 66 degrees Monday, according to Dougherty’s forecast.
