#Earned – Following a record 15th WPIAL boys basketball championship Saturday, it is all Goode in the land of the Quips.
Once known as “Lil’ Cheese” when he was a role player on the back-to-back district Class 2A title teams for Aliquippa when he was a freshman and sophomore, Qa’lil Goode was the leading man in the 2026 Class 3A championship run.
The senior guard was coming off a 21-point performance in a WPIAL semifinal victory over South Park that set up a title game rematch with South Allegheny.
In the 2025 finals, Goode was 5 of 15 from the field and 1 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc and was limited to nine points as the Quips fell to the Gladiators, 37-35.
The rematch a year later was a different story.
Goode was 6 of 11 from the field with one 3-pointer in the first half. He scored 13 points, half of his team’s point total through the first two quarters, as Aliquippa and South Allegheny were tied, 26-26.
In the second half, Goode and the Quips pulled away to secure their record 15th District 7 crown.
“Lil’ Cheese” finished with 30 points as the Quips denied the Gladiators a repeat, 65-54.
He finished with this impressive stat line: 13 of 17 from the field, a 3-pointer, three free throws, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Goode and his Aliquippa (18-6) teammates look to win double gold for the second time in three years as they begin their quest for a seventh PIAA state championship Saturday at home against District 9 runner-up Cranberry (22-3) at 1 p.m.
The three-sport star lives up to his last name in athletics and in the classroom with a 4.1 grade-point average.
In the fall, Goode led the team in receiving yards with 587 yards on 32 receptions. He was also top for the Quips in scoring with 13 touchdowns, helping Aliquippa win the WPIAL Class 4A championship.
In the spring, he’s a member of the Aliquippa track team.
While he has not made a college decision for football yet, his older brother Quentin just completed his freshman season at Westminster.
