Owen Martin had a goal and an assist to lead top-seeded Seneca Valley to a 5-1 victory over No. 8 Upper St. Clair in the PIHL Class 3A Penguins Cup quarterfinals Monday night.

Ethan Riffe Jr. and Carter Hoehn scored in the first period and Carson Lindberg and Braden Morin scored in the third for Seneca Valley (20-0-1), which will play the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between No. 4 Pine-Richland and No. 5 North Allegheny in the semifinals March 9. Nico Galardini scored for Upper St. Clair (8-10-3).

Avonworth 9, Moon 4 – Richard Malsch scored twice, Owen Stiers had a goal and three assists and Austin Dzadovsky added a goal and two assists to send Gold No. 2 seed Avonworth (18-3-1) to a Class A quarterfinal win. Luke Ermlich, Joey Moore, Cooper Powell, Linus Jesionowski and Randy Bevan each had a goal and an assist for Avonworth, which will meet the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinals between Blue No. 1 Canon-McMillan and Gold No. 4 Butler in the semifinals March 11. Jordan Rieke had two goals and an assist, Eric Hartman added a goal and an assist and Clayton Foster also scored for Blue No. 3 Moon (16-4-2).

Hempfield 4, Cathedral Prep 2 – Guerin Gardner scored in the first minute of the first period and Luke Horrall scored in the last to lead Hempfield (18-3) in the Class 2A quarterfinals. Andrew Bryant and Max Gromoll also scored for Hempfield, which finished with a 46-14 shots advantage. Vinny Scalise and Dylan Graham scored and Matei Moga made 42 saves for Cathedral Prep (5-14-2). Hempfield will face the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between No. 4 Bethel Park and No. 5 Bishop McCort in the semifinals March 10.

Neshannock 8, Trinity 3 – Grant Hennon and Marko Relic each had two goals and an assist to lead No. 2 Neshannock (16-4-1) to a Division 2 quarterfinal win. Hayden Tatterson, Shane Johns, Sean McGraw and Christopher Johns also scored for Neshannock, which will meet the winner of Thursday’s quarterfinal between No. 3 Ringgold and No. 6 Knoch in the semifinals March 12. Zach Jiblits had a goal and an assist and Seamus Coyle and Bobby Daddea also scored for No. 7 Trinity (12-8-1).

Thomas Jefferson 3, Central Catholic 1 – Lucas Blose scored a pair of third-period goals to break open a tie game and Michael Burns had a goal and an assist for Thomas Jefferson (13-7-1) in the Class 3A quarterfinals. Mattei Misiti scored for Central Catholic (11-8-2). TJ will play the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinals between No. 2 Peters Township and No. 7 South Fayette in the semifinals March 9.
