Colton Goodlin and Preston Miller each had a goal and assist, and Brogan Murphy also scored as No. 7-seeded Latrobe defeated No. 2 Armstrong, 3-1, in the PIHL Class 2A Penguins Cup quarterfinals Tuesday at Belmont Complex.
Eli Meeder and Cam Mikulsky added helpers for the IceCats. Reese Myers made 33 saves to earn the victory.
Jason Rullo scored on assists from Josh Rullo and Evan Heilman for Armstrong.
Latrobe (10-10-1) advanced to play rival Penn-Trafford (16-5) in the Penguins Cup semifinals March 10 at RMU Island Sports Center.
Armstrong finished its season 17-4.
Bethel Park 5, Bishop McCort 4 (OT) — Lukas Crisson scored 11:19 into overtime off an assist from Kai Decker to give No. 4 Bethel Park a win over No. 5 Bishop McCort (10-10-1) in the PIHL Class 2A Penguins Cup quarterfinals at Spencer Family YMCA.
Crisson had two goals and an assist. Sinjin Stainbrook, Tyler Miller and Jack Hartman also scored. Kevin Teamann made 25 saves in victory.
Mark Pazniak, Isaiah Lieb, Zakhar Bryndin and Ben Cannizzaro scored for Bishop McCort.
Bethel Park (15-5-1) will play No. 1 Hempfield in the semifinals at 7 p.m. March 10 at RMU Island Sports Center.
Class 3A
Peters Township 5, South Fayette 2 — Brendan Monko had two goals, and Chaz Lamagna and Cameron Caruso each had a goal and assist to help No. 2 Peters Township (15-4-2) defeat No. 7 South Fayette (10-11) in the PIHL Class 3A Penguins Cup quarterfinals at Printscape Arena at Southpointe.
Brady Holleran also scored, and Daniel Kovac, Carter Shoub and Cole Neupaver added assists. Anthony Herman made 17 saves in the win.
Mikhail Lobanov and Nathaniel Keller scored for South Fayette.
The Indians will play No. 3 Thomas Jefferson in the semifinals at 9:15 p.m. Monday at RMU Island Sports Center.
Pine-Richland 6, North Allegheny 3 — After falling behind 1-0, No. 4 Pine-Richland (12-5-4) scored five straight goals and took down No. 5 North Allegheny (11-7-3) in the PIHL Class 3A Penguins Cup quarterfinals at Baierl Toyota Ice Complex.
Cullen Campbell had three goals and an assist, and Carson Verszyla and Douglas Van Meter each had a goal and two assists for the Rams. Noah Taggart also scored in the win. William Hanner made 40 saves.
Joey Mitchell, Kyle Imm and Liam Diamond scored for the Tigers.
Pine-Richland will play top-seeded Seneca Valley (18-0-0-1) in the semifinals at 7:15 p.m. Monday at RMU Island Sports Center.
Class A
Canon-McMillan 4, Butler 1 — Brayden Edgar scored three unanswered goals in the third period to lift top-seeded Canon-McMillan (20-1) past Butler (17-4-1) in the Class A quarterfinals.
Ayden Heinen also scored, and Brenden Lomago had two assists for Canon-McMillan. Aiden Bobbs made 35 saves to earn the win.
Anthony Trombatt scored for Butler.
The Big Macs will play Avonworth in the semifinals at 7 p.m. March 11 at RMU Island Sports Center.
